Who we are and how we work

What we do

This site answers a single question: how to organise a day out starting from Naples. Which train, at what time, how much the official ticket costs, when a tour with guide and transport is worth it and when it is money down the drain.

To do that we publish tables of timetables and fares, hour-by-hour plans, a map of the destinations with times and costs, and reviews of the people who sell the trips: six booking platforms and thirty-eight local operators and services, all of them in operators and platforms.

How we verify the data

Prices, opening hours and fares come from three places and nowhere else: the official sites of parks, museums, councils and transport companies, which we open while writing; the catalogue of the partner platforms, which updates itself; and the fares published by consortia such as Unico Campania.

When a figure does not exist in published form — it happens often with the small operators around the gulf and with the odd ticket office — we say so instead of estimating it. An invented price costs the reader more than a missing one.

We do not tie pages to a year: we show the date of the last update and re-check the sensitive data, because fares and timetables in Campania change several times within the same season.

How we are funded

Through the commissions the partner platforms pay us when you book through one of our links. The price you pay is the same you would see if you arrived on their site by yourself.

Three consequences, spelled out for clarity:

• No local operator pays to be included, excluded or described in a particular way.
• When the official channel costs less, we say so and recommend it, even though it earns us nothing: that is the case with the Alibus at €5, with the Circumvesuviana to Pompeii at €3.30 and with the Gran Cono ticket for Vesuvius, which can only be bought online on the official channel.
• We publish no sponsored articles, no rewritten press releases and no reviews in exchange for hospitality.

What we are not

We are not the Parco Archeologico di Pompei, the Parco Nazionale del Vesuvio, a museum, a council, a ferry company, a travel agency or a booking platform. We do not handle bookings: if you need to change or cancel, the person to contact is whoever issued the voucher.

Nor are we a licensed guide: when a guide is required inside an archaeological site we say so and explain how to verify the licence.

Who writes

A small editorial team with a background in ticketing and tour operating in Campania, which travels the lines and visits the sites it writes about in person. We sign the project, not the individual pieces: the responsibility for every figure lies with the editorial team.

The most technical pages — getting around Naples and tickets and passes — are the first ones we re-read at every seasonal timetable change.

Errors, reports, rights
