Alibus is the ANM shuttle between Naples International Airport, Stazione Centrale and piazza Municipio: €5 one way, departures every 20 minutes, three stops and no more. It is not a private transfer, it has no assigned seats and you cannot reserve: you board whichever bus turns up.
What it is and who runs it
ANM (Azienda Napoletana Mobilità) is the City of Naples company that runs the buses, trolleybuses, funiculars and metro Line 1. Alibus is its airport line: a public transport service with its own ticket, not a tourist product.
The route published by the Unicocampania consortium is Airport – Stazione Centrale – piazza Municipio (port) and back. There are no intermediate stops on request: if you are staying in Chiaia or Vomero, Alibus still drops you at piazza Municipio or piazza Garibaldi and you change from there.
The piazza Municipio stop is what makes the line useful: from there you walk to the Stazione Marittima and Molo Beverello, the departure quays for Capri, Ischia and Procida described in the ferry companies review.

What it costs and where to buy
The ticket is called Unico Alibus, costs €5 and covers one ride with 90 minutes of validity from first validation: the same price at authorised sales points and on board, according to unicocampania.it. On board, Tap&Go also works in tap-in mode with contactless cards on the American Express, PagoBancomat, Mastercard, Maestro, Visa and VPay networks.
Three things that cost you dearly if you do not know them:
- the €1.30 ANM single city ride and the €1.80 integrated time ticket are not valid on Alibus;
- the Campania Artecard does not include it: the pass website lists it among the excluded transport, with SITA Costiera, the EAV Pompei–Vesuvio buses and Campania Express;
- the ticket must be validated as you board, not when you get off.
Timetables: two official sources, two answers
This is where the service’s transparency falls down. The first and last runs published by ANM and by the Unicocampania consortium do not match.

Both sources agree on one thing: departures every 20 minutes, every day. In practice: if your flight leaves before 8am or lands after 11pm, do not build the plan around Alibus. The City of Naples taxi tariff sets €21 airport–Stazione Centrale and €24 airport–port, per vehicle: with two people and suitcases the sums get close, with three the taxi wins.

Luggage, refunds and strikes
There is a luggage rule, but it sits in the bus conditions of carriage rather than on the Alibus page: one piece of hand luggage travels free if it does not take up a seat, large cases and bags need an extra ticket (maximum 20 kg, 80x45x25 cm) and the driver can refuse them on a full bus. What is missing are the refund rules for a cancelled run: neither the service page nor the Carta della Mobilità publishes them, and the only formal route is a complaint to the customer office, answered within thirty days.
During a strike Alibus is normally guaranteed in the protected bands: ANM notices do not name the airport line separately, they treat it as a surface route, covered from 5:30 to 8:30 and from 17:00 to 20:00. Check the ANM notice for the day: if you fly on a strike day, keep a taxi as plan B rather than the last useful bus.
Alibus or the partner voucher?
The same airport–Stazione Marittima transfer is also sold as an e-ticket on GetYourGuide and Tiqets, at the same price as the ANM ticket. Prices checked regularly.

The voucher’s advantage is not the saving, because there is none: it is arriving with the ticket already on your phone, without hunting for the sales point in the terminal or relying on contactless. The limit is the mirror image: a voucher does not get you on board sooner and does not guarantee you a seat, because the seat does not exist in either version.
If you are travelling as three or four, or landing at night, look instead at a private per-group transfer or the direct shuttle towards the peninsula: the options are compared in getting around Naples and in Sorrento in a day, where the airport–Sorrento link skips the city centre entirely.
Verdict
Alibus does one thing and does it well: it carries one person with one bag from the airport to the train or the ship for €5, every 20 minutes, with no booking. It is the right choice if you travel light at civilised hours, and it is close to compulsory if you have to sail for the islands the same day with Capri in a day on the programme.
It is the wrong choice with two big suitcases, a late landing or a group: in those cases a fixed-fare taxi or a booked transfer costs a little more and saves you two changes. For everything else, the Circumvesuviana and the shipping companies are two more reviews to read before you leave.
Questions people ask

€5 for one ride, both at a sales point and on board. The ticket is called Unico Alibus and is valid for 90 minutes from first validation.
Is the €1.30 ANM city ticket valid on Alibus?
No. Alibus has its own ticket: neither the single city ride nor the integrated day pass is valid.
Does the Campania Artecard include Alibus?
No: campaniartecard.it lists Alibus among the services excluded from the transport covered by the passes, along with SITA Costiera, the EAV Pompei–Vesuvio buses and Campania Express.
Where does Alibus stop?
Three points: Naples International Airport, Stazione Centrale (piazza Garibaldi) and piazza Municipio, a two-minute walk from the Stazione Marittima and Molo Beverello.
Can you pay by card on board?
Yes: Tap&Go is active in tap-in mode with contactless American Express, PagoBancomat, Mastercard, Maestro, Visa and VPay cards. One card, one passenger.
How long does the airport to port trip take?
ANM gives 35 minutes from the airport to the port and 15 minutes to Stazione Centrale; the ticket covers 90 minutes. At peak times via Marina is the slow stretch.
Is a taxi better value than Alibus?
With two or more people and suitcases, yes: the City of Naples tariff sets €21 airport–Stazione Centrale and €24 airport–port, per vehicle.
