Amalfi Coast Day Tours is neither a boat company nor a guiding agency: it is a private driver service selling organised days across the Amalfi Coast, Pompeii, Vesuvius, Sorrento and the Reggia di Caserta, with nine-seat Mercedes and an English-speaking driver. The site presents itself as a family firm born in Pompeii and active for nearly twenty years across the Naples area and the Rome one, with a catalogue reaching as far as Matera, Alberobello and the ports of Civitavecchia and Livorno. The price, though, is not public: you ask for a quote and book through the link that arrives by email.
What it is
It is, in substance, a chauffeur-hire business with fixed-itinerary packages. On the contact page the address given is nothing but the Naples postcode, 80133, with no street; the footer reads “Naples, Italy” and the VAT number is not shown. For a business that moves vehicles, the missing NCC chauffeur licence is the first thing to ask for: the number has to be displayed on the car in any case. Bookings run through FareHarbor, and the site links to the firm’s Tripadvisor listing, registered in Naples.
The most useful part of their material is how clear they are about the limits of the service. The FAQ says the drivers “may not be licensed guides” and that Italian law does not let them take you inside archaeological sites and historic centres. That is correct, and it is information plenty of competitors bury: if you want to understand Pompeii, you pay for the guide separately.

The operator publishes no price list: the listings show duration and itinerary, and the price appears in the booking engine or in the quote email. What is written down, and what counts, sits in the terms:

There is one figure that does not add up and it needs flagging: the FAQ puts Pompeii entry at €15 and some tour listings at €18, while the official fare published by pompeiisites.org is €20 for the Pompei express and €25 for Pompei+. It is not a scam — they are not the ones selling the tickets — but the material is out of date, and you need the real numbers to cost your day properly. On the home page the firm claims “4.9 stars from over 2,000 online reviews”: that is an aggregated self-declaration, not a score you can check on any single platform.
How the day works
The model is the classic private car arrangement: the driver waits for you with a sign bearing your name at the end of the platform, at the quay or outside your hotel, and the trip follows a written running order. On the coast the listings are explicit about timings: the Positano–Amalfi–Ravello tour gives an hour in Ravello, an hour in Amalfi and an hour and a half in Positano; the version that adds Pompeii becomes two hours at the excavations, thirty minutes in Ravello, an hour in Amalfi and an hour in Positano. Those are honest numbers: on the SS163 most of your day is spent in the car, and anyone promising four towns with three hours on the ground is lying. How to check before you pay
Ask for the written quote with the total per vehicle, the number of passengers, the start time and the time you are back: going over 8 or 9 hours costs €50 an hour and it is hard to dispute afterwards. Get confirmation that tolls, parking and fuel are included, as the listings state, and that tickets are not. Ask for the NCC licence and the driver’s name. For the boat, insist in writing that the balance is paid in cash to the skipper: it is an awkward condition and you need to sort out the cash machine beforehand. Finally, if you are off a cruise, have the return time to the port written down: the terms state a priority on getting you back on board an hour and a half before the ship sails.

The comparison is settled by the head count. With two of you, the shared tour from Naples costs a fraction of the private vehicle and makes the same three stops. The verdict
An operator long in the trade and straight about a point almost nobody else clears up: the driver does not act as the guide. It stays thin on prices and company details, and its information on Pompeii tickets is out of date. It works for groups of four and up, for families with luggage and for cruise passengers on a tight clock; for a couple, the package from Naples is still better value.

Are the rates per person or per vehicle?
The operator’s FAQ says private tours are paid per vehicle and shared ones per person. With four of you, or eight, the private option therefore changes value completely.
What vehicles does it use?
Mercedes, mostly nine-seaters, carrying eight passengers plus the driver. The site states the vehicles are air-conditioned and non-smoking.
Does the driver act as a guide?
No, and the operator says so itself: the drivers know the area but are not necessarily licensed guides, and Italian law does not allow them to lead you inside sites, monuments and historic centres. For Pompeii you need a separate guide.
Are entry tickets included?

The terms provide that if the hydrofoil does not sail you can either switch to another itinerary with the same firm or cancel with no charge.

The listings say eight hours, and the contract specifies that the price covers up to 8 or 9 hours: every hour beyond that costs €50. The Amalfi Coast boat tour is given as six hours with a 10:00 departure.
