Naples Drivers & Guides: the NCC with guides reviewed

A Naples NCC with a Mercedes fleet and optional licensed guides: day tours start at €374, but the site has been frozen for years and the reviews page is empty.

Naples Drivers & Guides is a Naples NCC doing something almost no competitor does: it publishes the price list for its private tours and its cancellation penalties, in plain sight, on the same page. The flip side is a site that has stopped moving, with a reviews page that is completely empty. Here is what holds up.

What it is

A business with an Italian VAT number and a stated address on via Santa Maria del Pianto, in Naples. It sells private transfers between cities, shore excursions for cruise passengers and day tours around Campania, plus long runs to and from Rome, Florence, Matera and Puglia. The declared fleet is Mercedes: saloons, minivans up to 8 seats, minibuses up to 19.

The name puts guides on the same footing as drivers, but in practice the licensed guide is an extra: the listing for the Pompeii and Vesuvius tour has it among the options, two hours or the full day, and specifies that the skip-the-line Pompeii tickets can only be booked together with the guide.

The price list, line by line

Six day tours with a published price: €374 Vesuvius and Pompeii, €385 Pompeii with a wine tasting and lunch, €429 the classic Amalfi Coast and Pompeii with Sorrento and Positano, €462 Pompeii–Sorrento with a tasting all in, €473 the Greek temples of Paestum with a mozzarella dairy visit. The cheapest tour runs 8 hours.

What the figure covers: a private Mercedes vehicle, an English-speaking driver billed as a “tour expert”, fuel, taxes, parking and tolls. What stays outside: lunch and admissions. For Vesuvius the Gran Cono ticket can only be bought online on the official portal, €10 plus booking fee, with a timed slot reserved: how that works is on the Pompeii and Vesuvius day trip page.

The site does not say whether those figures are per vehicle or per person. The note about “tours with the 9-seat minibus” and the shape of the list both point to a per-service rate, but it is the first thing to have confirmed in writing.

Conditions: the part done well

Here the comparison with the other Naples NCC operators goes in favour of Naples Drivers & Guides, because the rules exist and they are precise:

ItemPublished condition
Deposit10% at booking, balance in cash during the service
Free cancellationUp to 7 days ahead
Penalty30% from 6 to 3 days ahead, 100% from 2 days ahead and for a no-show
Airport waiting time90 minutes at Naples, 120 at Rome from landing
Waiting at hotels and stations20 to 45 minutes depending on the pick-up point
DiscountsUp to 30% in low season, November to March

Two warnings that matter. First: museum tickets are non-refundable, unless the site closes unexpectedly. Second: a balance in cash means you need to turn up with the notes, because there is no card payment at the end of the service.

The signal not to ignore

The “Reviews” page announces guest reviews and then shows none. The last blog posts and the copyright line in the footer go back several years, and the listing for the best-selling tour declares just two reviews. That does not mean the service does not work: it means the site is not a current source and that everything has to be reconfirmed in writing, starting with the rates.

The group Pompeii and Vesuvius day trip with lunch from Naples costs €48.75 per person with more than nine thousand reviews: under €100 for two, against €374 for the private car without admissions. The sums even out around eight people, and only if the vehicle at that price takes them.

The NCC comes into its own when you need things a coach will not do: the 19-seat minibus for a group, the run back to the port with a margin for the ship, two sites in one day with no fixed timings.

The verdict

The most transparent of the group on rules, the least reliable on its website. Consider it if you are a large group or a cruise passenger who wants written penalties before setting off, and ask for confirmation of price, capacity and guide in a single email.

For a direct comparison read the Naples Private Driver review, which publishes per-vehicle rates with a stated capacity, and the See Amalfi Coast review, which sells packages with admissions and a guide already included. The full index is on the operators and platforms page.
