Naples Private Driver is one of the few Naples NCC operators that puts a number next to every itinerary instead of answering “it depends”. Eight day tours, one rate for the vehicle with up to 8 passengers, admissions excluded: if there are four or more of you it is a real alternative to the shared minivan, provided you read the conditions before you pay the deposit.
What it is, exactly
A sole trader with an office at via Nazionale 24, in eastern Naples. The site shows no company VAT number but a personal tax code: you are dealing with an owner, not a structure. The main contact is a mobile with WhatsApp, and the email address is a Gmail account.
The “About us” page holds a small inconsistency worth noting: the heading claims far more years in business than the line two sentences below it. It is not a problem of substance, but it tells you how much more care has gone into the wording than into the figures.
The catalogue is entirely in English and the drivers are presented as English speakers. If you want commentary along the road in another language, ask at the quotation stage: the site promises it nowhere.

What it publishes and what it costs
The eight day tours each carry a stated “starting from” price: €420 for the Reggia di Caserta, €450 for Naples–Pompeii with lunch, for Vesuvius–Herculaneum with lunch and for the tailor-made tour, €480 for Sorrento–Positano–Pompeii and for Pompeii–Herculaneum with a tasting, €500 for Positano–Amalfi–Ravello. Shore excursions leave from the ports of Naples, Amalfi, Salerno and Sorrento.
The listing for the best seller is the clearest of the set: 8 hours, a maximum of 8 people, and the price covers a private air-conditioned vehicle, an English-speaking driver, fuel, tolls, parking, insurance, the photo stops and about two hours at Pompeii. Site admissions, lunch and the licensed Pompeii guide stay outside, the guide being an optional extra.
That the rate is per service and not per head is confirmed by the conditions: each hour beyond the eight costs €50 in total, not €50 per passenger. So add the Pompeii ticket, €20 for express entry according to pompeiisites.org, multiplied by the number of heads.
The detail that shapes the day
The stated strength is flexibility on the departure time, settled when you get your quote. The point to watch sits in one line of the conditions: Italian law does not authorise the driver to accompany the visit inside archaeological areas, monuments and historic centres. Translated: inside the excavations you walk alone, unless you pay for a guide.
The same conditions exclude liability for missed flights, trains and ships. If you have a ship to re-board, agree a return time with a margin of your own, not the one that looks reasonable on paper.

How to check it before you pay
Three questions to put by WhatsApp or email, and to have answered in writing:
| What to ask | Why |
|---|---|
| The NCC licence number and the town that issued it | The site does not publish it; a legitimate NCC hands it over without hesitating |
| The registration and model of the vehicle assigned | A “luxury private air-conditioned vehicle” is not a model |
| A written quote with hours, admissions excluded and the extra-hour rate | It heads off the classic misunderstanding over the final bill |
The rest is already down in black and white: a 20% deposit by PayPal within seven days, non-refundable; the balance in cash to the driver, or by card, bank transfer or PayPal in advance; cancellation in writing at least 14 days ahead, and past that deadline the deposit is gone.

The shared premium tour from Naples costs €58.50 per person for Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi: that is €117 for two, €468 for eight. The closest itinerary in the NCC price list is Positano–Amalfi–Ravello at €500 for the car, which works out at €250 each for two and €62.50 each for eight.
The threshold is clear: below four people the shared tour wins comfortably; at eight the NCC costs almost the same as the coach and gives you back the timings, the boot space and the stop where you want it. If what you actually want is Pompeii with an archaeologist and nothing to organise, look at the Pompeii day trips before you book the car.
The verdict
An NCC that is transparent on price and honest about the limits of the law, with a site that nonetheless says nothing about its licence, its vehicles or its insurance. It works for full cars and for anyone with a ship or a plane to catch who would rather have a closed quote than a meter. If there are two of you, the private driver page explains why the sums do not add up.
For the Amalfi Coast with other operators, compare the Amalfi Coast Private Driver review, which works out of the coast rather than Naples, and the See Amalfi Coast review, which sells packages with admissions and a guide already inside. Every listing is in the index of operators and platforms.
Questions people ask
Is Naples Private Driver an agency or a driver?
It is a sole trader based in Naples on via Nazionale: the site publishes a personal tax code rather than a company VAT number, and the main contact is a mobile number with WhatsApp.
Are the prices shown per person?
No. The figures from €420 to €500 cover the service, with a maximum capacity of 8 passengers, and every hour beyond the eight included costs €50 more.
Are the Pompeii tickets included?
No. The conditions cover the vehicle, the driver, fuel, tolls, parking and insurance; admissions, lunch and a licensed guide are extra.
Can the driver take me round the excavations?
The conditions rule it out explicitly: by law the driver cannot accompany the visit inside sites and monuments. A Pompeii guide is added as a paid extra.
How much do I pay up front and when can I cancel?
20% by PayPal within seven days of confirmation, non-refundable. Cancellation must be sent in writing at least 14 days ahead, otherwise the deposit is kept.
Is it better value than a group tour?
With the vehicle full, at eight passengers, the cost per head comes close to the shared tour; below four people the group tour stays far cheaper.
