Pompei Grand Tour publishes more verifiable detail than any other operator in Pompeii: its address, its VAT number, the names and mobile numbers of all four guides, the fleet, the price list and the policies. It is also the only firm in the area that sells private tours at a price per group — €200 for two hours, not €200 a head — which turns the sums round for families and parties.
What it is
A tourist services company based at via Carlo Alberto, 1st turning, 44, in Pompeii, VAT number 05174710656, set up as the continuation of an agency with twenty years of trading behind it. The team is four guides licensed by the Regione Campania — Giorgio Petraccone, Guglielmo Gargiulo, Enzo Somma, Enrico Setolino — each with their own number published, plus an office with a landline.
Alongside the guiding comes transport: the site lists a fleet of Mercedes saloons and minivans and two Sprinters seating 13 and 20, used for transfers and tours along the Amalfi Coast. That explains the €600–900 per-group packages with a driver and a guide together.
A note on the name: “Pompei Grand Tour”, based in Pompeii, is not to be confused with “Grand Tour Experience” of Naples, which is a different firm. In the legal pages of this same site the company name appears in two different forms, one an s.r.l. and one an s.n.c.: ask on the invoice which entity is issuing the document.
The price list, per group
Private tours, priced per group: Silver two hours €200, Gold three hours €280, Platinum four hours €380, the new-excavations itinerary two and a half hours €250, Herculaneum two hours €200, Pompeii with a winery visit and lunch six hours €750, Pompeii-Positano-Amalfi with transport and a guide seven hours €900, the Amalfi Coast with transport seven hours €600.
Shared tour: two hours at €50 per person, skip-the-line ticket included, twenty participants maximum, radio guides from fifteen upwards.
Here is the point that changes everything: on the private tours the entrance ticket is not included and goes into the basket as an extra, while on the shared tour it is inside the price. With four adults, the Silver costs €200 plus €80 of tickets, which is €70 a head; with six, €120 of tickets brings the total to €320, or €53 a head. Entry is free under 18, so for a family with two teenagers the bill is €200 plus €40.
Payment is flexible, and stated: a 30% deposit with the balance the day before, or the difference in cash on the day of the tour.
The practical detail: the meeting and the route
The guide waits at Porta Marina Inferiore, in front of the Caffè Vittoria, with the POMPEIGRANDTOUR sign. It is the right gate if you get off at the Circumvesuviana station at Pompei Scavi–Villa dei Misteri: a few minutes on foot, and the Porta Marina ramp begins after the turnstile. Start times the form accepts: 9:00–14:30 in the winter half of the year, 9:00–16:00 in the summer one.
The stated two-hour itinerary is the classic one, well put together: the gladiators’ barracks, the theatre, the main street with its shops, the baths, the lupanar, a domus with frescoes and mosaics, the Forum and the casts of the victims of the AD 79 eruption. On the shared tour you can hand back the radio at the end and carry on alone: that is the best way to use the two hours, because it leaves you the Amphitheatre and the House of the Faun without rushing. Times and trains in Pompeii in a day and getting around.
Remember the excavations’ bag limit, which the site passes on: no backpacks or bags larger than 30x30x15 cm.
How to check before you pay
Ask for three things in writing. First, the cancellation charge: the listings and the policy page say different things, and the restrictive version withholds 50% as early as six to three days ahead. Second, if you have bought the ticket as an extra: the rules warn that entrance tickets are neither refundable nor transferable, so if you cancel you lose that portion. Third, the gate: Porta Marina Inferiore, not “the entrance to Pompeii”.

The comparison has one rule: there is no transport from Naples here. The shared tour at €50 with the ticket competes with the platform’s guided tour at €45.50, which also includes the coach from the city centre; if you are sleeping in Pompeii or arriving by train, the €50 is well spent and the group is smaller.
