Trentaremi: the experiences operator in Campania

A Naples limited company based in the decumani: trekking, kayaking, cooking and guided visits across Campania. No price list online, and a declared role as an intermediary.

Trentaremi takes its name from the cove that opens below Posillipo, between the Gaiola and Punta Cavallo, and that already tells you a lot: this is an operator selling the Naples hinterland to people who want to walk it and cross it, not photograph it from a coach. If you have landed here looking for a boat tour of the gulf, though, the short answer is that Trentaremi does not sell one.

What it is

A limited company registered in Naples, on vico San Domenico Maggiore, which opens onto piazza San Domenico Maggiore: an Italian VAT number, a landline, a company email address. The site describes an origin as a group of friends and a network of fishermen, farmers, winegrowers and craftspeople who open their businesses to visitors.

There is a second leg to the business, declared on the services page: press-office consultancy, social media marketing and video production for organisations promoting southern Italy. That is not an irrelevant detail, because it explains the editorial tone of the site and the in-house magazine sitting on it.

The guides are introduced by first name, surname and specialism, split between trekking, culture and the sea. It is a piece of transparency few Naples operators offer, even if the site does not publish their professional licence numbers.

What it sells, by category

The catalogue runs to more than twenty experiences in four families: trekking, culture, the sea and food. The trekking side has the Path of the Gods, the Lemon Path, the Valle delle Ferriere, Punta Campanella and the crater of Vesuvius. Culture brings private visits to the Pompeii excavations, the Museo Archeologico, the Rione Sanità, Villa di Poppea and the Scale del Petraio.

The sea is the thinnest part of the offer and the most interesting: a kayak tour along the Posillipo coast, meeting at the Baia delle Rocce Verdi in a window from 10:30 to 12:30, which sets off from Marechiaro, passes in front of the Palazzo degli Spiriti, reaches the Gaiola and finishes in the cove of Trentaremi. Then diving and snorkelling on the Sorrento peninsula and the outing to the submerged Roman city at Baia.

On the food side, cooking classes in farmhouses and private homes, from the Cantina del Vesuvio to Tramonti, and a black truffle hunt at Bagnoli. These are products you will not find on the general platforms, and they are the real reason this operator exists.

What it does not publish

The prices. Not one listing in the catalogue shows a figure: some carry a “Book” button, others only “Request info”, and the price turns up at the confirmation stage. For an operator selling experiences meant to be compared, that is the most serious shortcoming.

The second point to read closely sits in the general conditions: the activities are supplied by third-party partner companies and Trentaremi describes itself as an intermediary, not liable for damages, delays or non-performance by its suppliers. You sign the contract with Trentaremi; someone else delivers the experience.

Cancellation, by contrast, is written precisely: a full refund up to 72 hours ahead, a 50% penalty between 72 and 48 hours, no refund beyond. In bad weather or force majeure you are entitled to a refund or another date, with no other compensation.

How to check it before you pay

  • Ask for the name of the supplier delivering the experience and its insurance cover, because the contract does not specify either.
  • For the kayak, get confirmation of the equipment, the buoyancy aid, the level required and the minimum age, and what happens in a swell.
  • For the Gaiola, remember that access on land to the marine protected area is free but has to be booked online in the summer months, with time slots and a cap on numbers: going into the water is a separate matter, so ask how it is handled.
  • For the archaeological visits, ask for a guide licensed by the Campania Region, in the language you need, and for the admission ticket to be stated as included or excluded in so many words.

Check the operator’s identity too: Tripadvisor carries more than one listing under the same name, and only one of them is linked from the official site. If you are hunting for reviews, start from the link published on their own site and not from the first search result.

At sea the comparison is with guided snorkelling led by a marine biologist off Posillipo, €72 per person for three hours, rated 4.9: it is the only partner product covering the same stretch of coast with a scientific guide. For the classic boat tours of the gulf, aboard motor launches and gozzi, the logic is different and you will find it on the boat tours in the Gulf of Naples page.

On the cultural side the comparison is harsher: a guided visit to Pompeii with priority entry sells for €45.50, one with an archaeologist for €49.50, both with thousands of reviews, while Trentaremi does not say what it charges. Its advantages remain the small group, the local guides and products nobody else lists.

The verdict

A credible local operator, with its company details in plain sight, guides who have names and a catalogue that steps outside the usual six products. It works if you want a local, Italian-run experience and are willing to ask for a quote. It does not work if you want to compare prices, or if you are expecting a boat tour: that is not what it does.

For sea outings aboard a boat read the operator listings on the boat tours in the Gulf page, for the beaches and the Gaiola the beaches in Naples and the gulf page, and for city walks the walking tours in Naples. The index is in operators and platforms.

Questions people ask

What kind of company is Trentaremi?

A limited company registered in Naples on vico San Domenico Maggiore, with an Italian VAT number and a landline. It sells guided experiences in Campania and southern Italy and also offers communications services to local operators.

Does Trentaremi run boat tours?

Not in the skippered-charter sense. Its only sea experience in Naples is a kayak tour along the Posillipo coast, meeting at the Baia delle Rocce Verdi and running from 10:30 to 12:30. The catalogue also includes diving and snorkelling on the Sorrento peninsula.

How much does an experience cost?

The operator publishes no price list: some listings have a booking button, others only an enquiry form. The price arrives at the confirmation stage.

Who actually delivers the experience?

The general conditions make clear that the activities are supplied by third-party partner companies and that Trentaremi provides a booking service: the contract is still concluded with Trentaremi.

How does cancellation work?

A full refund up to 72 hours ahead; between 72 and 48 hours 50% is retained; beyond that there is no refund. In bad weather or force majeure you get a refund or a change of date, with no further compensation.

Does the kayak enter the Gaiola marine protected area?

The route described passes the Gaiola, which is a marine protected area with regulated access on land and online booking in the summer months. Ask the operator which stretches can be paddled on your date.

Are the guides licensed?

The site introduces its guides by name and specialism across trekking, culture and the sea, but does not publish their licence numbers: for visits inside archaeological sites, ask for confirmation of a guide licensed by the Campania Region.
